Critical Assets

Using the Critical Assets Form, list at least five of your organization's most critical assets that you need in order to support your organization's critical functions and mission statement. Assets may consist of tangible items such as buildings, vehicles, or computers but would also include information such as client files or donor lists. Choose your most critical assets based on what allows you to perform the mission of your organization, which is not the same as the most expensive items your organization may own.

For each of the assets you listed, document its current location, such as a building address, a particular file cabinet or room in your office, or a computer hard drive.

Now consider and document what would happen if the asset was temporarily or permanently unavailable for your use.

Is there anything further you feel you need to do in order to improve your recovery from the "loss" of one or more of your assets? If so, document your steps on the "To Do" section for further work.

If you would like to see an example, one is available for your review here.
