The Training Process - What You're Getting Into

Your training will begin with a study of what CPDR is, why it's so important and how it relates to not for profit organizations.

Your first assignment will be to complete an assessment of your organizations current state of "disaster" preparedness. Using the Readiness Index - a fourteen-point scale developed by Professor Sandra Blanke and Dr. Elizabeth McGrady - you will determine your organization's strengths, weaknesses and training/planning needs. The Readiness Index will provide you with a better picture of where your organization stands and will also be used, later on, as a post-training and periodic evaluation tool.

Once you have conducted this evaluation, you will begin to work through the program's four sections. These have been designed to ease you into and through the training process. As you progress through the program, the activities will become more comprehensive, gradually guiding you towards an effective contingency plan - one that will provide your organization with its best hope for weathering any storm.

Below is a diagram that outlines the entire training program.

The program has four sections, Fundamentals, Proactive Stewardship, Impact Analysis, and Assessment & Review
