Reciprocal Agreements

If a disaster affects your organization's office or facility, you may need to find an alternate location while it is being repaired or a new location is found. Alternatively, if your organization's equipment is damaged or lost, it may take time to find or purchase replacements.

While some agencies can temporarily lease space and equipment, smaller agencies may find it more economical to form reciprocal agreements with other agencies to provide temporary office space or borrow equipment for a short time.

When setting up a reciprocal agreement, consider how much space and/or equipment you would need as well as how much you could make available. Also discuss time limits with the other agency. Periodically check with the other agency to make sure the agreement still suits the need of both parties.

Use the Reciprocal Agreements Form to document any reciprocal agreements you develop.
