Overview/Introduction

Welcome to the Fundamentals section, which covers the first level of recovery planning. This section is designed to help an organization with the initial development of a basic disaster recovery and continuity plan. The process includes walking through the steps of evaluating the most critical functions and assets of your organization and then completing forms documenting contact lists and other information that may be needed in the event of a disaster or crisis.

Remember, while disasters are most commonly thought of as large-scale natural occurrences, such as floods or tornados, they also include other more common events such as fires, power outages, computer problems, and the loss or theft of data.
