Career Accomplishments

James K. Bishop is an information assurance leader and educator whose career spans over two decades, bringing his deep knowledge of cybersecurity, risk management, and compliance to strengthen security governance across North Texas and beyond.

Professional Journey:

Today, James serves as  Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) Cybersecurity Leader at Lennar Corporation in Irving, Texas (2025–present), where he drives enterprise cybersecurity governance, compliance strategy, and AI risk management across Homebuilding, Mortgage, and Title divisions. In this role, he authored Lennar’s enterprise Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS) Manual—aligning AI governance to ISO/IEC 42001, NIST AI RMF, and ISACA AAISM—covering lifecycle management, risk/impact assessments, incident response, TEVV processes, and secure deployment. He developed the full AI policy suite (including Acceptable Use Policy and Common Criteria), structured Confluence documentation architecture, led cyber insurance renewal responses (clarifying biometrics/tracking policies to reduce misstatement risks), coordinated PwC-driven policy modernizations for Information Management & Cybersecurity Policy, and contributed to board-level risk reporting while collaborating with the CISO, GRC teams, and cross-divisional stakeholders on audit/SOC 2/NIST/penetration testing remediation. This work strengthens enterprise security posture in a regulated, high-scale environment and positions Lennar for secure adoption of emerging technologies.

James also channels his expertise into entrepreneurship as the founder of Stage Four Security, a North Texas-based consultancy he launched in 2019. Through this venture, he provides advisory services that dig into cybersecurity’s nuts and bolts—policy development, training, risk management—all aimed at building a proactive security culture for clients. He’s not content to stop there, though; in January 2025, he founded the Stage Four Institute, a not-for-profit that takes his mission further by focusing on education and community outreach, sharing tools and insights to make cybersecurity accessible to a wider audience. Before these ventures and his current enterprise leadership, James served as Vice President of Risk Assurance at JPMorganChase in Plano, Texas, in 2024. During that stint, he led the Cybersecurity Technology Controls Findings Management program, analyzing security trends, managing risks, and driving agile projects to shore up security functions. He aligned strategies with business goals, ensured compliance with global standards, and delivered executive briefings on cybersecurity posture. His past also includes key roles at CoreLogic, where he oversaw security for strategic vendors, Unisys, where he advised on compliance improvements, and Sirius Computer Solutions, where he guided multi-disciplinary teams to weave security into business strategies.

Educational Background and Certifications:
James holds an MBA in Information Assurance from the University of Dallas and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Texas at Arlington. His credentials include certifications like National Security Agency INFOSEC Assessment & Evaluation Methodology and multiple CNSS standards, reflecting his ongoing dedication to mastering the craft of information security.

Engagement and Leadership:
Beyond his entrepreneurial pursuits, James engages as an educator, having served as an adjunct professor at The University of Dallas, where he taught graduate courses in cybersecurity, technology management, and governance. On social media, he dives into thought leadership, stirring conversations about governance, security policies, and their socio-political ripples. He’s not afraid to poke at conventional wisdom with critical takes, delivered with a rapier wit that keeps things lively—think a blend of confidence, approachability, and a dash of humor that sparks both debate and chuckles among his followers.

Conclusion:
James K. Bishop’s career weaves together technical skill and a knack for seeing the bigger picture, positioning him as a figure who secures digital assets while wrestling with the political and regulatory currents that shape the field. His focus on entrepreneurship with Stage Four Security and the Stage Four Institute, paired with his commitment to education, mentorship, and advocacy, marks him as more than just a security leader—he’s a voice in the broader conversation about technology and society, nudging it forward one sharp insight at a time.
